ELECTROLIGHT

Donn Salisbury, Director of lighting design studio Electrolight, worked alongside ZETR’s design lead Garth Elliott on a number of projects during the inception of ZETR. Donn was shown ZETR during the prototype phase and was instantly enthusiastic about their potential in the market, so it was an obvious choice for his own project, his family home on Sydney’s Cronulla Beach.

I genuinely love the ZETR range, it’s such a beautiful combination of refined sophistication and real-world functionality. It takes something clunky which people typically just accept in their living spaces, and makes it elegant” ...and... “I love the integrated USB ports, they are a blessing for one of my pet hates - power-packs

Their design priorities were to maximise on the views and natural light that the apartment offered, as well as provide high functionality without compromising on sophistication.  The duo jumped back in CAD for the first time in 18 years and eventually landing on a set of 37 drawn plans which were brought to fruition by builders Maple Building.

With the abundance of daylight we mixed up light and dark timber joinery and concrete textures, with some added warmth through aged brass detailing. All of these combined, it’s nicely balanced during the day but moody at night. We used pressed porcelain from Artedomus for all the floors, benchtops, splashbacks and island bench. The entire bathroom is lined in the same porcelain finish, which gives it a very solid monolithic feel.
